The University of California-Los Angeles is an example of an institution that releases profiles of their applicants and accepted students by SAT score. These statistics show the impact that high SAT scores can have on applications. Middle-50% (25th through the 75th percentiles) SAT composite scores for all UCLA applicants are 1640-2060 on the 2400-point scale. The same range of scores for accepted students is much higher at 1940-2240, meaning that UCLA admission is associated with SAT scores that are 180-300 points above the applicant pool as a whole. The UCLA admit rate for applicants with composite SAT scores of 2100 or better is almost 52%, and these students constitute about 55% of UCLA's class of first-year students. Applicants with total SAT scores below 2100 are accepted at much lower rates (15% for scores of 1800-2090, 8% at 1500-1790, 4% at 1200-1490, and less than 1% for scores below 1200). UCLA is much more transparent about its use of the SAT in undergraduate admissions than most schools, but reviewing the average SAT scores at other highly selective institutions will confirm that their SAT expectations are also high.

Meet a Seoul SAT Tutor: Katrina K.
Katrina K., who grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, was a distinguished high school student who scored in the top 1% of all test-takers on the SAT. She majored in secondary education at the University of Georgia, graduating with honors before completing a master of arts in teaching at Boston University. She has been a full-time educator at the secondary level since 2008, and added SAT tutoring to her teaching profile in 2010.
Katrina has been a member of Manhattan Review's Seoul team of SAT teachers since 2014, and her local student evaluations indicate that she uses an accessible teaching style to produce strong test score results. Katrina's SAT students have been accepted to many selective postsecondary programs in the United States, including Ivy League institutions and major public research universities.
